Cathy's POV. The loud rock music filled my ears. Seeing a lot of drunk people dancing on the dance floor makes my eyes sore. I am supposed to be in a place where there's peace and a lot of food, not a place where there is a lot of liquor and drunkards. I should wear a beautiful gown and sit on a comfortable chair, not sit on this cold sofa alone and wear this sexy blue dress where a little movement exposes my butt to the people. It's my fault, though. Why am I in this kind of situation? It's because I agreed to come here to celebrate my 18th birthday, which I find so rare. Who in their right mind celebrates their debut at a club? That's only me. Firehot Club is a new club built in the area. It is famous for being huge, wild, and a place for rich customers. Many of the wealthiest business people and celebrities are here enjoying their night. It is crowded with only the richest people, and it's not easy to enter this place. It so happened that my best friend's father is a famous businessman, so we got a chance to join this expensive club. I kept looking from right to left, hoping to see my best friend. To my disappointment, I didn't see her or even her shadow. I swung my right leg back and forth impatiently. "Where did she go? It's been 30 minutes already," I whispered, annoyed, looking at the small watch on my right wrist. I hate being alone and in an awkward position. I see a lot of couples, or maybe some are not couples, being intimate in front of me, on my left and right sides. I feel like I am torturing myself. No one is approaching me, and I hate how people throw glances at me with their unreadable eyes. Are they criticizing me for sitting alone and not moving like a robot? I can't take it anymore. I roamed my eyes around the corner for the last time before deciding to stand on my seat to look for her. I was about to take a step when my eyes accidentally met the eyes of a very handsome man, the man that I secretly love. My body reflexes were so fast, turning around. "Wait? Am I not wrong? Is that really him?" I looked crazy asking myself, but I couldn't help it. I blinked a few times before deciding to take another glance in his direction. My eyes widened after confirming that the man was really him. My eyes and mind know who that handsome poker face is very well. My heart started to race after seeing that he was staring straight into my eyes. Oh my goodness. What is he doing here? I couldn't stare at his eyes for long and had to tilt my head to the side. I did my best to cover my face with my hair, even though I knew it was useless now because he already saw me. We were in trouble. My hand was shaking as I dug into my purse for my cell phone. I was about to dial my best friend's number when I froze on my spot after feeling someone tap my shoulder. I held my breath for a second and slowly tilted my head to see who it was. "Are you okay, Cathy?" Alyana asked, confusion very visible on her face. She is my best friend, the lady I had been waiting for ages. "You scared the hell out of me. Where have you been? I've been looking for you for ages now. Do you know how awkward it is to sit here alone without moving or drinking?" I said, almost yelling at her. She looked at me, as if asking herself if she had done something wrong. "I don't want to hear where you went because, Alyana, I saw your dad!" I said, emphasizing my last sentence. I felt really nervous about her dad being there. "My dad? My dad is on a business trip. I guess you are drunk already. Why would my dad come here?" She said. "I'm not drunk. I really saw your dad here. We need to go home now," I said, feeling frustrated because she didn't believe me. "If you don't believe me, then see him with your own eyes. Look, he was there," I said, pointing to the spot where I saw him a while ago, but I furrowed my eyebrows after seeing that the table was now occupied by someone else. "Wait, what happened? I really saw him there a few minutes ago before you tapped my shoulder," I said, feeling confused about his sudden disappearance. I was very sure that I saw him. I wasn't drunk because I hadn't sipped any liquor that night. I was busy thinking about where he had gone when Alyana suddenly held my shoulder and chin to meet my eyes. She was looking at me with a serious expression. "Why are you so afraid of my dad?" She asked with a serious tone. Time felt like it stopped after hearing that question from her. Alyana had no idea that I loved her dad as a man. How could I tell her that when he is 15 years older than me and, worst of all, he is her dad? I was pretty sure she wouldn't like it, and she would definitely stop being my friend as soon as she knew my feelings towards her dad. I didn't know where or how it started, but all I knew was that I loved him because every time I saw him, my heart beat wildly, and my mind entertained inappropriate thoughts. I couldn't look directly into her eyes. My eyes were busy looking around as my mind was occupied with finding an answer to her question. "I-I'm worried he will scold you," I said, stammering. I pinched my palm, wishing she wouldn't notice how strange I am tonight. My heart feels at ease after I see her smile looking at me.
